breathing new, my space is shaping up.

Sewing room today

Stack of small quilts waiting to be quilted on small machine.
My sewing room with out long arm machine. This was a long time coming. I had to wait for Alex to move out so the work out room could be moved into that space to free up this space. I was so crammed  in my sewing room, I hope to accomplish a lot more with better organization and being less crowded I think will free up some creativity in my mind as well.
Stack of cut out quilt projects all waiting to be worked on.

Fold away pressing and cutting station. ( Made by Ken)

Design wall was enlarged and can be fully reached now,

Long arm machine in her new home. Her own space.

Great new cabinet ( thanks Ann) for storage and holding all
of my quilting threads as well as quilt design books.

Storage cabinet my Dad made in 1977. It will
house extra fabric for backings as well
as my Mom's Christmas dishes.
My bobbin winder can stay out now and can be easily reached.

Two of my favorite things up on the wall.

A table for drafting patterns or eating lunch.

Tomatoes, Tomatoes and More tomatoes

I have picked so many tomatoes and they just keep coming.I have picked three nice size egg plants and we will be eating beans from the garden again. I did have a busy day today, was up late last night hand stitching some binding on a quilt, so I had a hard day getting up today. Had two doctors appointments and my annual mammogram, If you have not had one this year it is time to schedule one ladies. I made my own tomato puree today for the stuffed cabbage rolls I made for dinner for tomorrow night. I keep looking at this photo and was thinking about turning it into a quilt, what do you think. I did have a nice break today with my friend Madi, we went for a scooter ride. when we went fast we screamed Whee!!!!! This is why I stay home and work from here. It is for the small moments in my day that give me the breaks I need to visit a sick friend, or help out where I can or stretch my back long enough for a quick scooter ride.

Sami"s quilt

Our kids played together when they were in kindergarten, Now they are both 23, both chose different paths in life. I find it ironic that I am now sewing for some of my son's old class mates or younger siblings as they all graduate from grade school and then high school and some college. All of the t-shirts and blankets collected all telling there own story. Some of them I remember seeing the kids in, or perhaps I was along on the field trip where the shirt was obtained, just the circle of life I suppose. Taking t-shirts, some so thread bear and loved and turning them into a memory quilt that will be cherished for a life time. Those are the best parts of my day.

labor day - taking new orders

what does labor day mean? The end of the summer or a day to honor those who have worked so hard for us whether it be to keep food on the table while we were growing up, or the soldiers who labored over seas to fight for our freedom. I know it means back to school for most everyone, a lot of empty houses now, a lot of picnics, hopefully the weather will cooperate. This weekend for me is about reorganizing my quilting space and getting ready for the big move of the long arm to a different location. No picnics, no parades, no cook outs, no shopping, just organizing and relaxing. getting ready for the move.I have just finished my last graduation quilt order and am now accepting Christmas orders, be the first in line and avoid the rush.
